Short answer: A deep clean is a top-to-bottom house cleaning that covers everything in a regular clean plus a degrease pass on light fixtures, fans, vents, window trim and sills, baseboards and cabinet fronts, with switch plates and doorknobs cleaned, upholstered furniture vacuumed, and sink, tub and shower fixtures detailed. With us, a deep clean usually costs about $400 to $700, and most homes need one every 3 to 6 months.

Deep clean vs. regular clean: what’s the difference?
A regular clean covers the surfaces you use every day. A deep clean adds a degrease pass and detail work.
| Task | Regular clean | Deep clean |
|---|---|---|
| Baseboards | Dusted | Degreased |
| Light fixtures, fans and vents | Dusted | Degreased |
| Window trim and sills | Dusted | Degreased |
| Kitchen cabinets | Fronts wiped | Fronts degreased |
| Appliances | Fronts wiped, microwave inside and out | Same |
| Bathrooms | Toilets, showers, tubs and sinks cleaned | Same, plus fixtures detailed and grout cleaned (within limits) |
| Switch plates and doorknobs | Not included | Cleaned |
| Upholstered furniture | Not included | Vacuumed |
| Typical price | About $200 to $350 per visit for recurring | About $400 to $700 |

What isn’t included in a deep clean?
A few jobs take a lot of extra time, so they’re add-ons you can pick for any clean: inside the oven, inside the fridge, interior windows, wet-wiping window blinds, and inside the kitchen cabinets. Tell us which ones you want when you book and we’ll build them into your estimate.
When do you need a deep clean?
- Every 3 to 6 months, even if you have regular cleanings, to catch what builds up between visits.
- When it’s been a while, or a home hasn’t had a professional clean before.
- Before guests or a holiday, when you want the whole house done at once.
- At the change of seasons. In Vermont that usually means after mud season in the spring, and before the house closes up for winter.
If the home is empty because you’re moving in or out, book a move-in or move-out clean instead.
What’s the difference between a deep clean and a move-out clean?
A move-in or move-out clean is a full deep clean of an empty home. It adds the inside of the kitchen and bathroom cabinets, which is easier once they’re empty. The inside of the oven and fridge can be added as extras. It usually costs about $600 to $1,050.
How do I prepare for a deep clean?
Pick up clutter, put away valuables, and make sure your cleaner can get to every area you want cleaned. We clean around personal items, so clear counters and surfaces get the best result. Your cleaner brings the supplies; if you want specific products used, tell us when you book.
