Gutter cleaning for Stowe homes

Mansfield Services is a family-owned company based in Underhill, just over the notch, and we clean gutters throughout Stowe. Gutter cleaning — sometimes called gutter clearing or a gutter clean-out — keeps rainwater moving off your roof and away from the house. Stowe roofs are their own category: steep pitches, tall elevations, deep eaves and heavy hardwood canopy overhead. We clean out the gutters and check and clear your downspouts. Full details on our gutter cleaning page.

  • Cleaned out thoroughly — never blasted with a pressure washer
  • Downspouts checked and cleared so they can drain
  • Checked for sagging, gaps and damage

What we see on Stowe gutters

Access defines the work here. Steep pitches, tall gable ends and homes built into a slope mean a ladder cannot simply be leaned anywhere — footing has to be built on ground that falls away, and the high side of a house on Luce Hill or up the Nebraska Valley can be a full story taller than the low side. That is planned before anyone goes up, not worked out on the day.

The second factor is volume. Mature maple and birch over the village streets and along the Mountain Road drop a heavy load every autumn, and deep overhangs hold it in place. Many properties here are second homes or rentals where nobody is on site to notice an overflow, so the backup is usually found after it has already been running down the siding for a season.

  • Steep pitches and tall gable ends — ladder footing planned in advance
  • Homes built into a slope, one side far higher than the other
  • Heavy maple and birch fall held in place by deep overhangs
  • Second homes and rentals checked properly when nobody is on site

Less Maintenance

Excessive trees or buildup? Consider gutter guard installation.

If your home is surrounded by trees — or you’re seeing debris come back fast between cleanings — gutter guard installation can dramatically cut down on maintenance. Guards keep leaves and debris out while still letting water flow through.

My roof is steep and tall. Is that a problem?

No, but it changes how we set up rather than how fast we work. We site and foot ladders on ground that often falls away, use standoffs to keep weight off the gutter itself, and work the run in sections. If a stretch genuinely cannot be reached safely, we tell you that up front rather than improvising on the day.

Can you clean gutters at a second home while I am not there?

Yes, and a lot of the Stowe work is exactly that. We do not need you on site. We clear the gutters, check and clear the downspouts, and let you know what we found — including anything on the roof or the fascia you would want to know about before winter.

The Job You’d Rather Not Climb Up For

Overflowing gutters on your Stowe home? We’ll clear them out.

Wet leaves, seed pods and shingle grit fill a gutter faster than most people expect, and a heavy hardwood canopy fills one faster still. We clear it out and check and clear your downspouts — no pressure washers.

Good to Know

Gutter cleaning FAQs — Stowe, VT

Why is gutter cleaning important?

Clean gutters keep rainwater flowing off your roof and away from your home. When they clog, water backs up and can lead to foundation erosion, basement damage, roof leaks, mold, and ruined landscaping — all far costlier than a cleaning.

How often should gutters be cleaned?

Most Vermont homes do best cleaned at least twice a year, in spring and fall, to clear out seasonal debris. Homes with a lot of trees close by tend to need it more often — and if that’s you, gutter guard installation can help extend the time between cleanings.

What happens if gutters aren’t cleaned?

Debris builds up and water overflows the gutters, running down your siding and pooling at the foundation. Over time that can damage your roof, siding, foundation, and landscaping.

Do I need gutter guard installation or screens?

Gutter guard installation can cut down on how much debris builds up, and we’re happy to walk you through the pros and cons. We won’t sell it as a “one and done” fix, because it isn’t — guarded gutters still need maintenance, just far less than uncovered ones. If you’d like, we can include pricing for gutter guard installation when we book your visit.

Can you remind me when it’s time?

Yes. We automatically schedule many of our customers for spring and fall — or once-a-year — cleanings. Once you’re set up, you don’t need to remember a thing, and you don’t even need to be home for the visit.

Is gutter cleaning the same as gutter clearing or a gutter clean-out?

Yes — they’re all names for the same job: removing leaves, needles, and debris from your gutters and downspouts so water can flow freely. Some people also call it a downspout cleaning, since we clear those too.
